Energized by the Intersection of Bold Color and Defined Edges
I have always been swept away by flat fields of color, clearly defined geometric shapes and crisp, clean lines. It is the juxtaposition and melding of these elements that generates movement and strength in my paintings — the heartbeat that makes the canvases come alive to me, and hopefully to you.
For many years I dabbled in more traditional, representational painting, until I realized my true fulfillment and happiness lies in hard-edge, geometric abstraction. I’m inspired by natural and human-made patterns I observe in the world around me — undulations of clouds/waves/mountains; repeated motifs in quilts/woven rugs/hand painted tiles. By interpreting these elements in bold, two-dimensional design I try to capture the essence and power of the complicated, beautiful and diverse world we all inhabit together.
It is my wish my work transmits to others the same joy, energy and hope its creation inspires in me.
